| Introduction |
| I think "Jack of All Trades - Master Of One (or more)" best
defines the music (or "record") producer. The producer gemerally
"directs" the recording process and is responsible for the result. |
| According to Bob Bateman of Brianbert Productions, "Basically
the producer is the guy who sees the project from the start to finish; you know he's they
guy that picks the arrangers, the musicians, the studio, the engineer, the tape, the song.
[He's a] diector and a co-ordinator, he's almost got to be a one man band - capable
of doing what ever the situation requires, getting in there and engineering if he
has to, playing if has to play, singing if he has to sing, writing if he has to write. |
| The Producer has to have a focal point or a goal as to "This is what
we're shooting for or this is what we're going to surpass. First of all he has to figure
out what the product is and then proceed from there." |
